Meet Superman

This is my little guy. I love him very much. Just like you love any of your children.

I know he can not help himself. I get mad at his condition. It's hard somedays for that frustration not to spill over in my daily life.

He needs help. He has been screaming for help for 7 years now. Mom has always been very proactive in trying to find something (anything) to improve how Ian functions in our family and his social settings.

He is so loving. His mood can change in a minute. He can hall off and hit you just because. He is impulsive.

My most favorite time of the day is when he climbs into my bed and just snuggles up to you. He craves touch but a minute later can be done with your hugs.

Right now, we are chaning Ians diet. I'm hoping Mom will blog about this. She has read countless books to help Ian. Her latest book is the book that Jenny McArthy wrote. There seems to be some connection to kids like Ian and their diet.

  1. I found your blog on facebook and also have a son who has just been diagnosed with ASD. He is 2 years old and I too read Jenny McCarthy's book and started asking questions about what I could do to help my son, Austin. We have now been doing the diet for almost 7 weeks and can already see a huge change in eye contact and social interaction with others. We are now waiting for test results to help us understand what supplements or detox meds he will need next. Thanks so much for the blog. It is good to be able to share my story with you too. :)

  2. Thanks Katy,
We have tried just about everything so if you ever have a question on what works and doesn't work....just ask...The diet has been very hard for everyone to adjust to in the house, but it is something we are doing for Ian. Probably make us all healthier in the long run too!

Thanks for sharing Austin with us. We hope to encourage others as others help encourage us.

    JJ and Danielle.

  3. By the way...on the diet, we consulted one of the alergists in Jenny's book here in the Dallas area.

He has yet to finish all the alergy tests on Ian BUT...we found that Ian is alergic to everything except beef, chicken and green veggies. Corn-highly allergic, soy (which is all we used to give him) came in at one step away from causing anaphalctic shock, dairy, wheath, flour...basically he can have nothing other than chicken, beef and green veggies....

we are also trying to draw out all of the yeast with some medicine...my wife has a book on the reading list about foods that poison our children...I'll have her post the name of the book and author, you may already know it.

His behavior has been a little better but what we're seeing is his exema (sp?) has never been so bad. He has it on his hands, face and his legs look like gator skin in places. I can only imagine how irritating it must be for him.

The alergist is saying that is the body pushing all the bad out and that we should be encouraged. Let us know what effects the diet is having on Austin when you have a chance.
